The challenge
In the course of the ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications, Explicatis GmbH needed a way to introduce MFA for all login systems used, which can be used independently of the employee’s current hardware. At the same time, the second factor (“something that the employee has”) needed to be trustworthy and fully usable offline.

The solution
Thanks to the open TOTP standard, all relevant sign-on systems can be secured with the authenticator. Both external identity providers (M365, Google, IONOS and various other login systems) and internal login systems are compatible with the REINER SCT. The devices are robust and durable. Setup is simple and a large number of accounts can be added without any problems.
The results
The introduction went smoothly. Employees receive the authenticator together with their company hardware. As part of the onboarding process, the second factor is stored at the first login. The rollout for existing employees consisted in part of migrating from other 2nd factors to REINER SCT.
